LA Good Questions: Paint Used In No Reservations?

032108_noreserve.jpgAT reader Michel writes, I'm in desperate need of the paint in the apartment of Catherine Zeta-Jones in the movies 'No Reservations'. It's a blue-gray color and it would be perfect for the rooms in my house. Any idea where I could find this?

Hi Michel,

Based on the photo, it looks like it could be very close to Benjamin Moore's Van Courtland Blue. If you're looking for an exact color, one of the best resources we can recommend is to head straight to the source: The Set Decorators Society of America. We've asked them similar questions in the past, and they do their best to find the answers.

Anyone have any suggestions on what this paint color is?

If you haven't seen "Mostly Martha" I highly recommend it.

If you are German, you may enjoy it even more!

Got to say - I had the exact same thought when I saw this movie - the paint on the walls, and the apartment in general are beautiful!

There's a good chance that the actual walls on the set weren't the same exact shade. Most films go through some heavy duty color correction and the original color quite possibly could have been a warmer or cooler tone. Your best bet is to find a good picture that shows it as the shade you want and match it.

i used Benjamin Moore Whitestone (2134-60) for most of my apt, which is more grey than blue. i also used Benj. Moore Blue Lace, which is more blue than grey, for the bedroom. all the thumbs-down-on-grey folks have been very pleasantly surprised by the results. good luck

I had a blue gray in my kitchen that everyone loved and looked similar to this. It was Oxford Gray by Benjamin Moore. Good luck.

I loved her white duvet/quilt with a yedi pattern. Does anyone have more information on it or a photo?

We've used "stone fence" (94-19A) by Lowe's American Tradition which was gorgeous. The slightly darker version is "ash blue" (94-19B). I think you'd find what you want between those two.
