AT readers, perhaps you can help your fellow reader "sweetheart" with her lighting identification question:
I went to the Alibi Room last night in Culver City on Washington Blvd and am in love with the light fixtures they have. They are made of glass with some kind of awesome long tungsten bulb inside. It emits low light and would be fantastic in my studio apartment. What is it and where can I find it?

I love those exposed bulbs, too... I am not sure if this is a precise match, but Sundance Catalog sells a couple of options.... here's a link to their light fixtures page: http://www.sundancecatalog.com/jump.jsp?pfstep=results&firstlevel=57&itemID=57&itemType=CATEGORY&iMainCat=7&iSubCat=57&sortby=Newness&page=1&viewall=1

those beautiful lights are made by niche modern. more info here http://www.nichemodern.com/site/
it looks like the model you like is the 'pharos' http://www.nichemodern.com/Merchant/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PHA
try and get up close to them in a quiet room before you buy, they make a slight buzzing noise as the filament vibrates while they are lit.
cheers,

Any tungsten filament bulb will start to hum or buzz when you dim it. Get the lowest wattage bulb you need for the space, and dim it as little as possible to avoid hum.
