LA Good Questions: Where Can I Get That Star Shaped Lighting Fixture?

060508HGTV2008b.jpgATLA reader Lauren just emailed us with this tidbit of sourcing information she wanted to share with other readers who might interested in the star-shaped overhead lighting she's seen on TV and in design publications:

"My girlfriends and I have been looking for this light that we saw on HGTV that keeps showing up in my design mags and I finally found it! I thought I'd share the link with my fellow AT-goers. And bonus! They're not as expensive as I thought they'd be! Woo hoo!"

Details below under the jump...

060508HGTV2008c.jpgThe Moravian Star Light has a total of 18 points. Each point contains four triangular pieces of clear glass. The metal has an antique bronze finish and the fixture uses a 40- or 60-watt light bulb. Available for $129-$199 depending on size here.

Target currently has that shape as a candle holder. Probably an easy DIY with a cord/socket set from IKEA.

I have a similar lamp, but it's a table lamp. It can be hung, too, but I use it to set on an antique teak buffet. Mine is done in stained glass panels that are a varigated cream and tan. I bought mine for $50 at an antique market in Atlanta.

I too have been looking for one of these lamps for a while... but still don't know if I can stomach the $200 for it. But they are sooo pretty!

Lowes home improvement store has something similar for around $110 in the Portland metro area. It's their in-store "Portfolio" brand. Though it's not currently listed on their website.

You can also get those in Mexico or at many nurseries in AZ. They're fairly common and not too expensive, especially if you buy them in Mexico! We had them, in metal, hanging at our outdoor wedding last summer.

I've seen these on Ebay, just type in Moravian Star light and a bunch will pop up. Prices seem to be around $50 and up.

You could have put the link before the jump. Why are you splitting even very basic posts into two?

I've seen them in the Pottery Barn catalog; I'm not sure when it was, only that it was in the last year. There were two different sizes and I think they may have been on sale.
