Missed Connection Bed?
Good Questions

092109IDbed.jpgQ: Perhaps the Apartment Therapy community can help me with this "missed connection.": I can't quite remember where I first saw you but you've been on my mind ever since. Rugged and handsome yet at the same time soft and feminine. I can't help but think about how attractive you would be dressed up in my ivory pin-tuck duvet...

...I see your photograph from time to time but it is never accompanied with any of your information.  I would love to make you the star of my bedroom but I fear you may be out of my league.

If only the price was some drunken flirting at a bar...

It's sold at Vivaterra

I think I can help you out with that, Bree! It's the Gustavian Vintage Bed from Viva Terra. You're in luck...it's on sale until September 30!

this is a beautiful bed at a decent price; however, as Bravo suggested I did a search on google and read a lot of bad reviews of viva terra written by some really angry customers. beautiful stuff but evidently very, very poor customer service. can anyone here verify this?

You could mimic this look pretty cheaply with a fancy-cut flat slab of wood. A carpenter could dupe the design with a jigsaw and add some legs. Then you could stain it yourself and attach with bolts to a bed frame. It won't have the same presence as the full bed, but the major focal point will be there.

I have ordered two items from VivaTerra: a succulent wreath, and a set of misprint words (eat & drink). I had wonderful customer service with both. The wreath was a gift, and was delivered within the time frame they stated. And, when I received the misprint words, both an 'r' and a 't' were missing from the bunch. I called customer service, and she immediately set up a replacement order (for the two letters). The rep. said it would take a couple of weeks for all of the processing, etc; but I ended up getting the letters 7 days later. Prices seem too high for a lot of the items, but the stuff is cool beans.

I also like farmhousemoderne's suggestion of having one made. I can see that being a cheaper, and perhaps more fun option, as it would allow room for customization.

You guys are awesome. 1700 really is out of my league at this point but the custom made one might be an option.

Thank you so much.

full disclosure, I am the senior merchant at VivaTerra, but I can assure you, you will receive nothing but the best service when it comes to this bed. It's made by the most attentive, hard-working artisan in LA and I can't tell you how many times he has gone above and beyond to make sure the customer is perfectly happy. He's made custom color changes when the stain didn't match other furniture as expected and he's even driven to customers houses to help them set up the bed (if you're in the LA area you're set!). This is not a customized bed, so I don't mean to give you that impression - but these are just examples of his dedication to 100% customer satisfaction.
As for other complaints - customer service is a very hard nut to crack. We are constantly reviewing and improving on our service. And it's great to hear that beckyjo had a good experience.
And yes, the bed is on sale until Sept. 30th so you've got 8 days left! thanks, susan

I know this question has been answered but I just saw it (or something very similar) at the store in the Sunset Junction called Living Room.

He's got a lot of great vintage pieces also! Worth the trip!
