Love AT, but that picture is a little weird to put on this site.
It's so cute though!!
I knew when I posted it, some people might be weirded out or offended by it. But I thought many people would also see the childish-innocent fun of it, especially when juxtaposed with the included quote.
gregory, ummmm, sorry, nope not seeing your point here.
defenitely weirded out. not offended. just creepy.
maybe if they had trunks on...
The intention was to juxtapose the solace of solitude the quote extols, while accompanying it with an image that is quite the opposite.
I guess I assumed enough people would recognize bathing in public in other countries and cultures is not uncommon, even here in LA, and it's neither weird nor creepy. Quite a few of my friends make it a habit to hit K-town to bathe, sauna, relax altogether in the buff. Other friends of eastern european nationality have mentioned enjoying public bath houses. But to each their own...I don't bath in public either!
public bathing in the states is uncommon so i can see why it could be weird and creepy. i find the picture to be funny.
No!!! . . . the picture is weird and creepy! There is nothing wrong with public bathing, but this photo takes it to another level, which Gregory has to be aware.
The guy is definitely Getting Away From it! Cum back Gregory, cum back . . .please
I love this pic....their facial expressions are silly and i feel it is in good humor. I mean look how small that tub is! I love it for art's sake. Viva Asian bathtub photos!
It's all in good fun, with some dorky kids having a silly time. Weird maybe, but definitely far from creepy.
i dont think this photo is weird and creepy but rather funny! get it? in japan, they dont have space, and in their apartment, this is their therapy. apartment therapy! ok, maybe im reaching... anyhoo, fun photo.
Where is everyone's sense of fun and humor? It didn't even occur to me that other people would find this creepy.
Charming and amusing picture, not creepy at all. Remember fun, people? Wacky, goofy, innocent, and silly fun?
i think this is a great photo that illustrates not only a sense of friendship, but just good old-fashioned fun. They are OBVIOUSLY just having a good time with a digital camera and none of these individuals are exploited or being offensive. Furthermore, there's no better way to illustrate tight spaces as with the human form for scale.
thanks for posting this gregory!!!!!
i can't see how the image is creepy at all. it's cute and funny and silly and appropriate for the theme.
if anyone can eloborate on how this is "creepy", i'd love to know because i'm just not seeing it.
Context means everything in this case.
I saw the picture first without reading anything else. I think it's hilarious and light-hearted. I fail to sense anything "creepy" about it at all. :/
To Confused and others: Maybe if you care to clarify why it's "weird" and "creepy"? Because you just keep repeating that, and there's no way to explain that it's not if you don't give any reasons. I mean, maybe if the guys in the photo were looking at each other licentiously or something...
I saw this picture first on Gregory's LJ and thought it was pretty hilarious. Mainly because I remember using bathtubs that small back when I was living in Taiwan. I'm amazed they actually all fit!
It's not creepy... it's weird, maybe, but only because I'm not used to seeing naked dudes sharing the same bath tub. I'm also weirded out by other things I've never seen before, like an extraterrestrial alien walking down the street, a four-headed human being, or the Mississippi River.
This is a typical sized unit bath in any 1DK (1 room dining kitchen) or studio apartment in Tokyo, Japan. While we usually wait for each other to get out of the bath, this is good clean fun.
I am serious about the clean bit - it is beyond Japanese comprehension to enter bath water without having first scrubbed, rinsed, scrubbed, rinsed every single part of the body. These boys would have been sparkling clean.
There is nothing weird or creepy about this image. Humor here is very different from other parts of the world. Truth be told, this kind of thing is probably seen on Sunday night comedy shows - how many naked men can you fit in a unit bath?...not so uncommon, shown right after - how long can you bath will 400 scorpians? or how many times can you stand being slapped across the head with a wet pair of jeans? All good clean fun!!
I think the photo is so adorable (and un-creepy) that I'd like a source for it!
Not creepy.
But definitely NSFW.
I don't think it's creepy at all. It just looks like they are having some zany fun.
Anyway, in Japan bathing together is not strange at all. Of course, the bath isn't usually that small. ;)
P.S.
I'm not saying the picture came from Japan--I was just giving an example but left that part out!
Not creepy in the least-it made me smile, and then it made me want to find a tiny bathtub to jump into with 3 of my friends.
I don't see anything creepy about the picture. It's a bunch of young dudes piled in a tub, for what appears to be just a silly picture. I get so tired of people's prude responses to something so completely innocent.
Try finding three of your friends and ask them to pose in a photograph like this one. If they do, then you really have friends. and chances are they are friends for life! If they don't want to, yeah then you'd think the photo is weird.
Hell, I want to jump in there too, they look like such awesome blokes to hang around with! I love the smile on the guys in both corners!
