I agree with the quote, but consider the source ironic... Ms. Barry's lines are among the highest around...
(For the record, I am a huge Barbara Barry fan. I'm just sayin'...)
I think what she is saying is buy less so you can save up and buy Barabara Barry - ie quality. I, too, am a huge Barry fan. But it's outa the budget range.

My pointing in choosing that quote is in reaction to the overwhelming trend of instant gratification and an unrealistic expectation the a truly personal, inviting and unique home can be put together quickly. Buy less, buy better (or build better if you're handy!). Patience rewards :)
Barry's self serving philosophy looks great in print. Her pieces, however, are among the most expensive around, as are her design services.
Yeah, if I waited to buy the Barbara Barry stuff I wanted, I'd still be sitting on the floor, wrapped in yesterday's clothes for warmth.
But I heart her designs. :)
