"Flow" Kitchen of Terrestial Mechanics by John Arndt

042307flowkitchen.jpg

For many, the kitchen is a laboratory. Well, designer John Arndt's Flow Kitchen basically looks like something out of a futuristic science lab. And, it's the basic science he employs that is quite brilliant. As featured in the April 2007 Metropolis, The kitchen utilizes natural phenomenon, like gravity, evaporation, decomposition, and plant growth. The water drips off the dishes, and onto the herbs. Food scarps are thrown into a garbage disposal/worm composter, that turn it into soil to grow new herbs.

Basically, this kitchen is "alive", (much like that mystery substance in the back of my fridge...) It's not clear if the Flow Kitchen is in production or just conceptual, but you can find out more info and contact John via his website.
