does this work on polyurethaned wood floors?

abby: I believe this is meant to be used primarily for waxed or untreated woods, but not for polyurethane coated floors.

Is this a cleaner or more of a finishing product? I am trying to restore the wood frame of a chair. So far I've used a gentle cleaner from Method to remove the ground-in dirt/oil that has accumulated. It's mostly gone but it's also clear that the finish is mostly gone. I think the wood probably needs a little more cleaning and then something to protect the surface. Am definitely looking for something that will get me to the next step.
