How has life changed in the 216 years since James Hoban won the competition to design the building? For one thing, in 1792, the building wouldn’t have been designed with bathrooms or running water. Even the way that we, and our leaders, entertain has changed. If you have a great idea for a redesign of the building, get it together and submit your work before the April 20th submission deadline. Personally, as much as we love architecture and design, we’re not that concerned with the building. It’s a change in the personnel we’re most looking forward to.

Boy, you said it about the personnel. When you say redo the White House all I can envision is a moving truck driving up for the furniture and a paddy wagon driving up for the inhabitants. Heck, they could even take some of that ugly federal furniture to their jail cell, us liberals like to give everyone a fair break.

I know, I can't wait for the McCains to move in either. Forgive my sarcasm, but I didn't think AT was a place for political opining.

We can't even leave the political bantering off of a design site? Seriously some things should still be sacred! Besides did it ever occur to anyone that these people could have feelings too? We should all take a little more responsibility in how we treat others - even if we don't agree with them.

well, if the McCains move in, they might as well not change anything inside the house since they won't be changing anything outside the house either.
