This is such a brilliant idea!

We have a couple of these that friends have given us. It's so fun to see how different people create different ornaments. One friend stuffed hers with colorful feathers, which was lovely. Another friend put a disembodied doll hand in hers. We've hung both proudly on the tree. :)

I was reading an old issue of Cottage Living at the doctor's office yesterday, and they had a whole how-to on how to make a clear glass ornament into a terrarium! Seemed pretty neat if you can get the moisture level right. The effect is similar to this idea, since you can see the plants/soil from all angles.

i love this idea - you can do something different every year - i've done feathers, glitter, and snow... it's interesting to see what people come up with!
