Inspired by this incredible Fall centerpiece, reader The Felt Mouse went out and found a gray pumpkin for their own arrangement and mixed it with orange mums and sweet mini white pumpkins for a monochromatic-with-a-punch-of-color look. Thinking of decorating for Halloween but want to keep it simple and modern? Jump below for some ideas:

We wnt out and bought a grey pumpkin when we saw Jonathan's (we got ours from Whole Foods if you're having trouble finding one). We figured you couldnt get any simpler than just arranging gourds and pumpkins. But if you want to put a little more work in (but not too much more!) try your hand at actually carving a pumpkin. You can make a classic jack-o-lantern or you can go another route and do something a little different:
New kinds of carving: Jack-o-lantern house numbers from Sunset, Lace Patterned GrePumpkins and Translucent Monogrammed Pumpkins from Martha.
Set the table and set the halloween mood: we found this dining table set up on Little Ant Design and loved how simple it was (most everything she already had, and the little trees she bought at Ikea). As long as you stick to the palette, you can't go wrong.
Branches: Find some branches outside and paint them black, orange or white and add them to a mantle or a centerpiece, or even to the porch around your pumpkin. Put them next to a spooky candelabra and the look is complete: from O!Rachew!'s flickr set.
Halloween candy jars: If you're a sucker for halloween candy and plan on buying it anyway (the green life sells eco friendly halloween candy) arrange it by color and create a little coffee tablescape.
Luminaries: With the days getting shorter, it's nice to add a little glow to the darker evenings. Try one of these paper sack luminary ideas: ReadyMAde's Sack O Lantern, Martha's Autumn Leaves and send your trick or treaters a message (maybe a different one) with this idea from Evite.
What are you planning to do?

Thanks for the mention!
I loved the lace-patterned pumpkins, too! Great attention to detail. If I could be sure the local neighbors wouldn't smash any pumpkins I might put out in the next week, I'd try my hand at something similar.

I love those lace patterned pumpkins. I wonder how well it would work to sculpt a pumpkin out of sculpy maybe, and then bake it for a longer term decoration.

I adore the luminaries. Plus, Denise from Little Ant Design did a great job with her tabletop.

As I sat wasting time on the computer looking for Halloween ideas today I ran across this post and a smile appeared - I couldn't believe that my table was featured on one of my favorite design blogs and I had never seen it.
Thanks for not only sharing my table but so many other great, simple Halloween ideas.
