As if there isn't anything already going on in the city of angels this weekend, two major design exhibitions will be taking place. Although they are on opposite ends of town (thank goodness) Dwell on Design LA and CA Boom are occurring simultaneously. While we'll be sitting by a pool, listening to MJ, and sipping boat drinks, fellow Apartment Therapy editors will be descending onto these events and bringing back cool ideas and new trends...
After a quick tour of both websites, each design event seems to be around the same price (although you're out of luck for Dwell on Design's Home Tours--they're sold out). CA Boom is being held in swank city, Beverly Hills with small group tours of the famed Stahl House. On the other hand, Dwell on Design takes place downtown with vendors like CB2, Heath Ceramics and Modernica. Even though we'll be soaking up the sun during our first "non-planned" weekend in months, we're still curious--will our Los Angeles Apartment Therapy readers be in attendance? Which exhibition and why?

Cincinnati's own Fabulous Frames & Art will be at Dwell on Design (booth #1708) with a selection of limited-edition prints by Charley Harper:

I've been to 2 consecutive years of CABoom, and I think it gets better every year. I went to Dwell's event last year at the convention center and didn't find it interesting at all. I was expecting so much more.
In conclusion, CABoom seemed to be geared more towards the modern design consumer, whereas Dwell seemed to have mostly things relevant "to the trade". CABoom and "trade" things as well, but they also had a lot of furniture, accessories, and products.
I would bet on CABoom if I had to choose one, but who knows, maybe Dwell's upped their game.
