Looks like they are a version of a roller shade (the panels) with places every foot and a half to insert the bar that holds the bottom of the fabric?
I think the tethering of the fabric is a great idea. I was going to suggest something like regular fabric panels, but they wouldn't be adjustable. And the base might fly around and potentially bonk your head.
Like if a breeze came up and you happened to be sitting in the right chair in the middle image, if that wasn't attached to the frame, the hanging bar could hurt!
The top portion is independent of the sides, yes? And fixed? Oops, maybe not, says "movable canvases" on their website, so if you want one side all the way down, the opposite side has to be all the way up.
I like their daybed styles of the same design. Although, I would like to be able to cocoon myself in one by pulling down all the sides.
