I was tempted to vote "nay" because of the price, but it a gorgeous (if ridiculously expensive) desk...

Price trumps aesthetics in the real world (smirks the pragmatist on a budget). Even if I could afford this, I would never consider it at this price. Sorry, I'm not a collector or a big enough design fetishist to feed a marketplace that would "justify" a price like this.

You 13 "Hot" voters: explain yourselves. This is the price of a college education at a good public university or an entry-level German luxury car. Or a nice chunk to throw into your Roth IRA.

And this is just the "starting bid"!

oddly enough, i noticed a similar desk on craig's list this morning during my daily morning scroll...and it was A LOT less...

i'm haven't yet figured out how to link from criag's to here but here's the name of the craig's list posting -- this desk looks VERY similar...

I voted Hot and then wanted to know how people thought this was NOT and clicked into the comments. I didn't even notice the price! Ok, the price is insane but it's still really hot, no?

I was also ignoring the price when I voted hot. I do think it's hot.

That's an incredibly gorgeous desk.

It's also the cost of an MBA at the private college where I teach.

This is why people with MBAs go to work for places like IKEA corporate, so that they can make a fortune making handsome desks available to the masses.

The question isn't "Is it worth the price or not?", it's more like "Would you drool over it if you saw it in your friend's living room?" And the answer is a resounding "hells yeah". That's hot.
