Inside, the dogs will sleep on sheepskin-lined, temperature-controlled beds, soothe their aches in a specially built spa, howl along to a state-of-the-art sound system and watch dog-friendly programs on a 52-inch plasma TV.

Automatic dispensers will ensure that chilled, filtered water and deluxe dry food are always available.

It's okay to love your dog... but to LOVE your dog? This is just too much!

Of course it's excessive. Silly question.

I thought Vern Yip was crazy last nite when he said, in reference to his 4 dogs and the aquarium in their own marble floored room: "Pets need their own pets"

But this takes the prize...

If her people weren't with her, my dog would be as miserable in that place as in a shabby dog house.

Can't buy a dog's love either.

Probably for people who have status insecurities and are in deep need for social approval...

I want to know what kind of idiot buys this so I know to stay far away from them.

i would love to see the faces of the owners when the sheepskin sleeping bed is chewed up. that may be the first moment they realize that they bought that for a dog.... im still grasping with the question if this is real....

If you have an extra $382,000 to spend on a dog, a donation to the humane society would be much more sensible and less repulsive.

Absurd. What do most dogs want? They want to have some time outdoors running and having fun, they want a good square meal every day, and they want to spend most of their time with their pack (that would be the owner and owner's family.)

Agreed, it's absurd. When will excessive over-consumption finally go out of style?

I wonder why the creator of this doesn't do one of these adopt-a-family programs instead? Surely it would be more rewarding to see a kid have warm boots than to see a dog "grateful" for its 52-inch plasma TV.

I think this is meant to be a joke--even the wealthiest and most ardent of dog lovers could not think their pooch would be interested in a closed-circuit television. Or need a retina scan.

i think its for the wealthy who only want a dog, when convenient. the rest of the time the dog will be in this sterile box to entertain himself, cuz his owners are too busy to actually spend any quality time with him. when they have children, they will probably build an addition on this for them.

i've been rethinking this. i wouldn't have a problem in the world with it IF whoever bought it was willing to donate another $382,000 to their local spca/animal rescue groups.

Just a joke, has to be. On the other hand, I feel the same way about costumes for pets and diamond studded collars and even a lot of silly professional grooming -- and people regularly fork out for those, too.

I think it's important to make a good home for any pets, keep them healthy and happy, interact with them regularly, do your best for them -- not set them up for independant living!

(And as for Vern Yip's cat aquarium, not having seen the show, I'd guess it's partly for cat entertainment (and partly for Vern) -- it's good to keep cats amused, since they are less destructive that way. The "pets for pets" crack was also, I think, a joke.)

For $382,000, I'll quit my job and stay home with my dog all day--that would make her happiest.

utterly wasteful and smacking of a dog owner with a guilty conscience HOWEVER it does remind me of a folly and lord knows how much folk have spend on those over the centuries.

it won't let me vote.

if it's this nice, why do they need a dog house at all? can't they just hang in the regular house? isn't the point of a doghouse to give them some shelter for when they are OUTSIDE?

i mean, people can do whatever they want w/ their money, but the excessive attitude of people today is fairly gross in general.

Let me think about this a sec...I'm on the board of my local Habitat affiliate, and we're having a hard time raising $80,000 to build a house for a single mom and her two kids who live in an old rental with black mold climbing all over the walls. So, um, no this is definitely not hot.
