I wouldn't put these in the middle of the room, it's a bit too library-esque. I'd be putting a white one up against a feature wall (wallpaper or bold coloured paint), or even tucked into a corner. It's a nice idea, but it's not "centre-of-the-room" worthy.

Hmm. I have an antique rotating bookshelf. Adding one of these to the room could add some modern oomph.
You might be able to achieve the same thing by using large wood cable spools mounted on a lazy susan base.

Middle choice. You know why? Because "not" to me is 95% of the ridiculous and awful normal hots or nots. I can't say this makes me throw up a little in my mouth, I can't say this makes me shake my head and want to give up sight. It's a little okayer than that. It's perfectly reasonable for someone.
