Anna and AJ have are the first residents in this brand new loft apartment. They have taken on the task of giving it a full makeover with new decor and furnishings, and the brains behind the operation is the interior design duo of Natalie Younger and Sayre Ziskin.

They’ve decorated the home with rich warm colors and adding modern and colorful art work and furniture to bring out the modernism of the building. Each angle of the home is accented with sleek yet warm textures. There is great subtle lighting that reaches each corner and the dark wood finishes add an extra level of sophistication. I especially love that they added wood-inspired wallpaper in the dining room and built a wall to create an “office”.

For a first home together, I think Anna and AJ have an amazing space!

Apartment Therapy Survey:

Our Style: Simple modern with natural/eco textures, Filipino/ethnic accents, and urban/hip hop flair
Inspiration: After months of trying to relax and watch TV from a yoga mat or air mattress, enough was enough, and we enlisted the professional help and genius vision of Natalie and Sayre of Younger & Ziskin to make our home comfortable and a better reflection of our style and personalities.

Favorite Element: The Osborne & Little Zebrano wall in the dining room is a great focal point.

Biggest Challenge: AJ is a freelance editor, so when he’s at home, he is constantly surrounded by stacks of hard drives. The new pony wall provides separation between his office space and the living area, as well as a hiding place for the maze of cables.

What Friends Say: Our friends are just happy that they no longer feel like they have to BYOC – Bring Your Own Chair

Biggest Embarrassment: We used to be embarrassed about the yoga mat, air mattress, and general lack of seating. After the design project, the only thing left to replace is a halogen lamp.

Proudest DIY: We tried to think of a way to highlight the numerous projects AJ has worked on and edited without coming off as self-obsessed (It’s about the art and community, people!). The mosaics in the entryway are composed of screenshots from 3 different eras of his work, laid over his logo using MacOSaiX (free program), and printed on canvas. As an added bonus, the artwork hides our breaker panel.

Biggest Indulgence: Our custom couch, made locally by The Sofa Company. Sure beats a yoga mat any day.

Best Advice: Call Natalie and Sayre

Dream Sources: Did we mention Younger & Ziskin?
