Dwell on Design Westside Home Tours

061008_dod7.jpgSaturday was quite a day, not only did we go to the Dwell on Design Exhibit but we also drove around all morning on the self guided Westside Home tour (it would have been near impossible to do it on foot like Gregory was able to do on the Downtown Tour). Yesterday we showed you old school mid century design and today we're rounding up the more contemporary homes we saw. Not all of them would allow for pictures but 2 of them did and you can color us impressed (and envious).

The homes were spread out over Mar Vista, Culver City, Venice and Santa Monica so it was fun to peek into homes that we've passed by in our daily lives. Surprisingly we saw a lot of memorable bathrooms filled with gorgeous eco-friendly caesarstone counters and tiles from modwalls. the best homes we saw were modern but retained warmth from their use of wood and cork. And we were amused that even in these big budget ventures, we recognized bedding from Ikea and Target. Take a look at the modern homes we saw and let us know what you think of them!

Thanks again to Dwell for putting this on and to Greg at Dwell for setting us up!

in keeping with the gardening theme: the ringed planters are a great idea for planting "running" species of bamboo (ie: black bamboo) to contain their running.

Very nice. I like the wood on the ceilings and the concrete floors.
