Our style: The building was built in the late 1920's. It's particular style is Spanish Colonial Revival.
Inspiration: Kitschy 1950's Americana, Halloween, Vintage Boudoirs, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, John Waters, Vintage eras of the 1930's through the early 1960's, the outdoors, the macabre.
We're always looking for more candidates for house tours. If you or someone you know is interested in inviting us for a tour, please email us!
Favorite element: The hardwood floors and molded ceilings.
Biggest Challenge in designing my home: The very tiny kitchen and bathroom.
What friends Say about my home: That is has a very warm sense of home and coziness. People also say it's like stepping into a very fascinating museum where there's always something to look at. We're often complimented on how organized everything is and how it doesn't look cluttered, even though in actuality we have a ton of stuff in such a limited space. My girlfriends usually comment on how cool it looks to have all of my (Amanda's) shoe's displayed on the crown molding in the bedroom.
Biggest Embarrassment in my home: The tiny kitchen.
Proudest DIY: Ripping up all of the carpeting ourselves without even telling our landlord until afterwards, and installing the huge open closet in the hallway.
Biggest Indulgence with respect to my home: We haven't spent that much money on our place, luckily. The most costly thing probably was the closet.
Best Advice given or received: Make your living space inspiring, stimulating and thought-provoking. Just because you live in a small space doesn't mean your ideas and creativity are limited. Make your apartment a direct reflection of you and your passions.
Our most valuable assets: Our ever-racing, creative minds. I (Amanda) am the "creative out of control artist" one, Jason is the creative handyman.
Picture quality is great. Very cool place. Love the shoes in the bedroom. Big fun!!

Neat, you guys live in my neighborhood! Gotta love 1920s buildings.
Your place has a bit of a jumbled yard-sale feel, but in a "ooh, look at THAT!" sort of way. Congrats on choosing just the right shade of red for the walls!
