AT Survey:

My/Our style: Comfortable and hopefully inviting. Our decor is a little eclectic and quirky being a mix of preloved with a sprinkling of modern conveniences. I love pattern and texture and hope to reveal this in my art, through textiles and soft furnishings.

Inspiration: Stems from getting my hands on what I am attracted to and can afford to acquire! I adore Mexican folk art and try to surround myself with as many little mementos and Mexicana trinkets as possible.

Favorite Element: The high ceilings, polished floorboards, natural light, big sash windows and 120 years of history

What Friends Say: Cozy.

Biggest Embarrassment: Occasional dog odour.

Proudest DIY: My husband and I helped my father in-law as much as we could in restoring and replacing original fixtures about 8 years ago. The place had been neglected severely. After my father passed away my mother decided to move in (we were already living in the above apartment). Just recently though Mum decided to move closer to one of my other siblings and she insisted we should move in to save us carrying the bubs up and down the treacherous and slippery stairs, plus it has ducted heating which is an absolute luxury!

Biggest Indulgence: Restoring it which it deserved.

Best advice: I love the look of white walls, it's a sensible backdrop for artwork and ornaments and it brightens up a space. We've also learnt that with a young family it is more practical and safer to live on ground level. Also, if you have pets and children invest in a leather couch (so easy to clean!).

Resources:

Appliances: Nothing flashy worth mentioning although we do try to buy local Aussie merchandise and products as often as we can but we are also suckers for German quality.

Furniture: Couch from Ikea
Most of our furniture has either been handed down to us, found, saved or reclaimed.

Lighting: Either existing or inherited or bought from Schotts

Flooring: Original floorboards & Cow hide rug from Lefflers
