082207_radioshero.jpg

Name: David (But with French accent, mind you) +Vanina +Baby Makes 3!
Location: Venice
Size: 2,000 square feet
Years lived in: 10 Years
Inspiration: Flea Markets!

David has been a friend of the family for 20 years, ever since he and his family transplanted here from France and discovered the French community in Venice. He and my Dad bonded over their love of vintage California style and consequently dragged us daughters to the Rose Bowl Flea Market for years.

We're always looking for more candidates for house tours. If you or someone you know is interested in inviting us for a tour, please email us!

They bought up vintage radios, mid century credenzas, herman miller chairs, and lots and lots of vintage Air France posters and cowboy paintings. You might say that they were collectors.

At one point David had so many radios that half had to be in storage because there just wasn't enough room in the house. Today his collection is more manageabe and is proudly displayed as the first thing you see when you walk through the front door.

Our Style: eclectic/contemporary

Favorite Room/Element: The glass wall from the bedroom to the pool.

Most talked about element: High Ceilings

What Friends Say: Nice!

Best advice: Fill your home with the things you love.

Best Find/Treasure: Airstream Lamp

Just got: Lot's of kids things for the new baby!

Any additional plans?: Nope, All Done.

OMG, I just love the vintage bakelite radios from the 30's through the 50's and one of them would be the old Fada "bullet" radio from the 1940's.

Great space however, lots of fun stuff in there and I like the house and pool area. Lovely.

Actually, no. I don't think I ever went to their house (Emily didn't so much like me. What is it with your female friends not liking me? Oh, wait...)

It was the French parents dragging daughters that kind of clued me in.
