Here's an interesting trick we just heard from a soda loving friend: Coca-Cola can be used in a load of grease stained laundry (alongside regular detergent) to help loosen tougher stains. The acidic nature of one of its main ingredients, phosphoric acid, makes the drink a stain fighter.
We'd recommend you to give this a try on your most disposable of clothes; we're going to try it next time with our car wash and household rags, and switch out regular Coke with the Coke Zero (because our laundry is watching its weight too), just to be on the safe side.

Kinda makes ya wonder what it does to one's stomach if they drink a lot of it.

Actually, Coca Cola is also v. good to unblock the drain. No, I mean seriously. :)

If you go to snopes and look it up, coke isn't any more dangerous than orange juice. http://www.snopes.com/cokelore/acid.asp

My understanding was that it was origionally developed as a cleanser. The evolution of it to a soft drink was a happy mistake.

if anyone watches mythbusters they did a whole set of coke related myths, i think two shows of it. If i remember correctly it said that this doesn't actually work, the guy rolled around in a greasey engine and then tried it, and it didn't help much.

I'll tell you what does work:
flat, room temperature coke will settle your stomach like magic. Just sip it at first and you'll see.

Yes Coke to settle a stomach! But in the good old days we actually used Coke syrup. I am guessing that access to this is pretty much gone unless you have a friendly neighborhood proprietor of a malt shop that could hook you up.

That was the original use and reason that Pemberton invented Coca-cola. It was used as a stomach settling tonic.

I think you can generally still buy coke syrup to settle your stomach. I've found it in the pharmacy part of the supermarket, by the Mylanta and stuff like that.
