The last month or so I've been in the process of moving in with my boyfriend which means I'm living with someone else for the first time since my first (traumatic) experience in college (I'm an only child). As if that wasn't a big enough transition for me, he's also got 2 young daughters. You wanna know the biggest challenge? Laundry. Of course I'm not expected to be doing all of it, but my tolerance is lower than everyone else's and I find myself doing heaps of laundry recently. So, yeah, I think it's worth it to learn how to fold a shirt in 2 seconds:

Congratulations on your brave, new life, Laure. Very exciting! Also, kudos for using the singular in this post. So lovely to read the words "my boyfriend" rather than "our boyfriend." Deeply appreciated. Seriously!

Congrats on be brave to move in with your boyfriend and his children - lol -- though do expect to do most of the folding.

you can also make your own folding board (like they use in retail stores): just fold the t-shit around it and slide it out. you could make it whatever size you want, but a clipboard will do, as well. it could also be a good way to get the kids to help and know the results will still be tidy!

Yuck. No thanks. I've got better things to do with my life. If you get good at stuff like this, you'll turn into the household's laundress.

I just watched the video and went "oO..the hell just happened?"
But I am intrigued and moving across the Atlantic in four days, so I'm going to try it. :)

I would love to be able to fold clothes faster, but after watching and re-watching this video, I am still clueless as to how it's done. Is there a real breakdown of steps somewhere?

That's awesome! I didn't get it by watching the video, but I was intrigued, so I tried it myself and it works! As for a breakdown of steps:
1- Lay the shirt flat with the collar to your left and the hem to your right.
2- With your left hand, pinch at the top of the shirt, just to the left (if you were wearing it) of the collar, along the 1/3 line pictured above.
3- With your right hand, pinch along the same 1/3 line, about halfway down the shirt (it'll be a few inches below the armpit).
4- Without letting go, move your left hand down and also pinch at the bottom hem of the shirt, along the same 1/3 line.
5- Pick up the shirt (still without letting go), pull taut, and shake it out a bit if you need to. At this point your shirt is most of the way folded, with just the right sleeve kind of hanging out.
6- Fold the right sleeve underneath, against your floor/table/couch/lap/whatever surface you were using, to be symmetrical with the left.
7- Ta-da! Hope that helps. It's not something you can really picture until you try it.

I know how to do this, but I never understood it because it takes longer for me to get the shirt layed out flat than it takes me to normally fold it.

I think rolling them takes up less space.

Been doing this for years. Once you know how it's super fast. I originally saw it on a Japanese tv show clip.

Life changing. Seriously. I flew thru mountains of shirts today that now stack so much nicer and my hubby no longer dreads his laundry (well, at least not as much). If only I'd learned this sooner! :)
