More than likely when renters move into their new pad, they're likely to find that the landlord didn't provide them with the light bulb globes for the ceiling. To cover-up this huge eyesore, we've come up with a quick solution to this blaring problem.
And with all this added lamp shade talk we decided it was perfect timing to show you how to make your own room more interesting with this unique lamp shade idea.
Supplies you'll need.
The wire is left at a longer length to show where where to hang the circle clips.
Let's see how we got here...
You'll first want to grab your supplies. You will need picture hanging wire and circle clips. We used two circle clips for our lightweight shade but depending on the weight of your shade you may end up needing a few more clips to distribute the weight.
Next we took two separate pieces of wire and wrapped it around opposite sides of the lamp shade harness. The two other ends of the wire are then wrapped around the two circle clips. Finally, clamp each circle clip to the ceiling base. This idea is perfect for when you end up with a favorite lamp shade from a broken base.
This is a great way to recycle and diy but if you're all thumbs like me then maybe this $39 solution would work:

I love it! What's so great to me is that you can change it to suit your design taste. I did something similar with an awesome giant shade, one of those IKEA lights on a rope and Gorilla Glue. Yes, I said Gorilla Glue.

I have two globeless lights - a bathroom one and a bedroom one. I wanted to just use a clip-on shade in the bedroom but it is one of those ones with three bulbs so I can't. It also doesn't have a space to use the kind of clips used here. The one in the bathroom is horizontal so it wouldn't work.
Y'know, I should just take some pictures and ask people here for some good low cost snazzy solutions.

Looks . . . okay . . . from the edges of the room I guess, but wouldn't you still have the bare bulb glaring down on you if you/your table is directly underneath the lamp? This project should include something translucent to cover the bottom of the shade.
And, when all is said and done, it looks like a floor lamp shade on the ceiling. Might be better if if was a true cylinder without the flare at the bottom.
Couldn't you also just affix a cheap Ikea paper globe around the bulb?

one solution to using a shade w/o a diffuser on the bottom would be a murcury dipped bulb, with the reflective bottom.
