Stencil the Floor

The October issue of Inside Out magazine shares a wellspring of a resource: Aussie online dealer, Stencil Gallery. With a selection of 3500 designs that includes art deco, art nouveau, decoupage, asian, ottoman and contemporary, these precision cut Mylar stencils are serious DIY business.

Using a base of paving paint, a contrasting acrylic paint (Liquitex; medium viscosity) for the pattern, the JA45 Mokko stencil, and concrete sealer, designer Caroline Quaine of Norman + Quaine dressed up a concrete floor with striking results. I really dig this stencil idea.

Anyone have suggestions of what type of paint to use on an outdoor deck? There is some generic greenish tread laid out and I need to change the color. I'm in a condo and own so the sky's the limit...as far as experimenting goes.
