Industrial Locker Room Bench

atla-060408-bench.jpgWe've always been a big fan of bringing the industrial into the home, from carpets to lighting. Our eye doesn't stop wandering in our own country; we covet those products made for office and school use in other countries as well. Case in point, those soap hooks used all over French public school washrooms. And as the French do industrial particularly well...

We weren't surprised when we cottoned to Wisteria's reproduction of the French Locker Room Bench. Sturdy and metal, we'd use it in a garden or, as we suggested yesterday, at front of our home for bundles or a sly encouragement to guests to remove their shoes.

too bottom heavy IMO. Each element is nice but not a good marriage.

Lots of character! Personally I would hunt around for a true vintage piece, but for a repro this looks very authentic.

Agreed that the proportions slightly off, but industrial items were meant purely to be functional and as such were indifferent to aesthetic considerations. All my industrial pieces have some similar quirk of design or strange proportion -- to me, that is very much a part of their appeal.
