We live about 2 minutes away from the beach and while our home doesn’t lend itself to a typical beach side style, there are a lot of houses around us that do. Most have a mid 90’s flavour but when there is the occasional one or two that are particularly well done, we get excited – just like this home by Justine Hugh-Jones. See more after the jump…
Interior designer Justine Hugh-Jones bought this holiday home and renovated it within 5 months. Painting most of the home white to cover the mismatched floors and dark timber cabinetry, they also opened up the space by removing a lot of the central doors. While we enjoy the whole home, our favourite element is the boys room– those bunks are just delightful. See more of Justine’s work at

Well done -- casually comfortable and fun (really like the use of ticking fabric -- not over done).
What the heck is that appliance on the stove though?

I think beach house decoration, driftwood mirrors and life belts etc, only work in holiday homes you'd soon get tired of them if it was your permanent place. This has been done with a nice light touch.

Just wanted to add that what I really like about this place is that it has married the 3 styles I've been wondering how to marry: Belgian (the linen, the coffee table, the industrial antiques); Danish (the white, black and grey palette and sense of restraint), and French (the bed, whimsical touches like the wallpaper, the dining tables and chairs)...
Nice...
