apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Inspiration: Simon's Laneway Townhouse
Melbourne

081809simon01.jpgWe find it really interesting to see what interior designers choose to surround themselves with. Everyday coming across beautiful textiles, objects and finishes and so many known options to choose from. The home of designer Simon Carver and his partner Stuart McKenzie is one that had us intrigued, see more below the jump…

081809simon02.jpgFilled with brilliant natural light, each piece of furniture has been carefully selected with a purpose in mind and Simon was careful to not overcrowd this space. Large, dramatic artwork and high ceilings makes the 2 bedroom townhouse seem much larger than it is, while the warm olive green in the downstairs bedrooms help seem less stark and more inviting. Our favourite part of this home is the kitchen. Simple brown and white cabinetry, open shelves and orange stools– delightful. See more of Simon Carver’s work on his website here. 081809simon03.jpg081809simon04.jpg[Images via Simon Carver]

Beautifully restrained and visually opulent, perfectly balanced.

SO gorgeous and simple. And a beautiful balance of color and light.

@LoriSF: Me, too! I was kind of thinking its hideous but in a beautiful way.

I love the idea of a ping pong paddle being a piece of art as well.
