A Little Moor

012808_moorish.jpg

After posting about great MCM desert getaways, we realized that although we're die hard fans of the style, it's refreshing to see a little something different.

Reader Denise123 pointed out Korakia, a little hotel tucked away in Palm Springs that has a refreshing Moorish Style in the desert. We love Moroccan influences and there are quite a few small ways to bring the style into your home. These are our favorite archived places, products, and inspiration for getting a little moor:

House Tour: Philip's Indiana Jones
House Tour: Gina and Bradley's Bold Exotic Travels
Tea Time Moroccan Style
•Local Find: Riad Decor
Moroccan Key Table
Moroccan Tagines

And these are some new things we've seen around:

Floor Cushion Platform from Urban Outfitters
Graham and Greene Lantern
Birdie Stamp Bedspread from Urban Outfitters
Octagon Side Table from West Elm
Safi Cabinet from Cost Plus

Does anyone have the sleeping platform from Urban Outfitters? How do you like it? Is it actually comfortable to sleep on?

I need a new nap spot for my living room since I got rid of my very old futon couch. Other suggestions also appreciated. Thanks.

I bought the green and white Morrocan Rug shown above from CB2. It is on sale right now and a great value. Very plush and very well made http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c=1010&f=3943

I also bought this morrocan rug from overstock: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Hand-hooked-Oxford-Tile-Wool-Rug-36-x-56/2488449/product.html Great colors, not as plush as the CB2, also hooked not shag, so a little "country-ish"

OMG, that's my bed-frame! I bought it on Craigslist two years ago! It's fun to see it in a Moorish-style room ... I hadn't thought of that!

Hi Jane, do you happen to know who makes that bed/headboard? Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know where can I find that low bench with the cream-colored cushion (or something similar)?

Hi Natalia: Yes, it's made by Fashion Bed Group, and the style is called Vivaldi. I saw it in Macy's around the time I bought it ... but Macy's doesn't carry metal beds anymore. I'm sure you can find it on the Web, though!

Choby - Urban Outfitters. If you get it, let me know how it is.

I've always loved Moroccan style home decor. I recently purchased beautiful Moroccan lanterns and Moroccan wall sconces from a local store in San Francisco, CA called Saint Tropez Boutique, check them out here: http://www.sainttropezboutique.us/products/lighting/lanterns.aspx
