Affordable Luxury Roundup

We like to think it's the small things in life that add up to a great quality of life. And while we can't exactly solve the economic issues that have a lot of people scare, we can offer up some simple ideas and products that are easy on the wallet and help make life feel luxurious:

• Almost Free: A clean house. Gregory mentioned yesterday that when there's no money to spend, decluttering can breathe new life into an old place and along with that cleaning can have a huge effect. When was the last time you got the dustbunnies out from under the couch? Or cleaned the windowsills. This is the time.

Boil some cinnamon on the stove to make the air inside feel clean and fresh once the house is clean. It revives the sense and provides a soothing atmosphere.

Home and Decor Magazines On the Cheap

• Some of our favorite luxurious towels on a budget are the Thomas O'Brien towels at Target and the Bed Bath and Beyond Turkish Towels

• The bathroom is such a small space that tiny details make a huge difference. We love these stainless steel Rolling Shower Hooks that cost about $7.

• We often talk about the benefits of cleaning out the closets and having matching wooden hangers is the icing on the cake. And for under $4 it's an affordable luxury.

• Having artwork that inspires you is the ultimate luxury. Some affordable options including making your own centerpiece, finding some art by art students, and cutting up books (we know, not all of you are into this idea, but still!).

• If you're down to 2 dishes that are chipped and sad don't forget about Little Tokyo for great deals on simple dishware.

• DIY. Doing it yourself is always cheaper than hiring someone. Check out Our favorite DIY projects. (Oh and don't miss this simple one, we love it and it's useful).

that headboard would drive me up a wall---all night I would think bugs are coming out of it.

Most are quite affordable and all will make better use of your existing space.
