Blogging...Small Space Inspiration from Western Interiors

atla-072808-wi01.jpgLooking at these rooms, it's hard to believe that they are from a 1900 foot home. The grandeur of their dramatic furnishings tricks your mind into thinking the rooms they decorate must be larger. Which is exactly the point. Over-sized orange velvet wing chairs in the living room; an acid yellow Chinese wedding chest in the dining room; and, an Asian folding screen used as a headboard are just some of the dramatic pieces that bring the eye up and give the impression of space where none exists.

The blue paint in the living room also makes the walls seem farther away than they really are. Light blue just makes everything seem airier.

Nicely done, though personally I'd do away with the blue plaid chair.

I just bought a place and the bedroom is sorta the greenish yellow color of the screen in the bedroom. Looks like this will give me some good ideas as far as colors to work with for my new room. Any ideas on where to find the coverlet on the bed or the pillows?

I'm in love with those orange velvet wing chairs - they're exactly what I've been searching for for my den!

"...from a 1900 foot home..."

I absolutely love this interior but I don't know why you suggest this is "stepping away from Hollywood Regency." It looks totally Regency to me.
