apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Blogging...Urban Grace Interiors

070809_urbangrace1.jpgPerhaps one of the best rewards of writing for Apartment Therapy is discovering other amazing interior design and lifestyle blogs. There are literally millions out there; and we absolutely love the experience of being able to see what others are doing with their home and becoming inspiring with their process and solutions. Erika's blog, Urban Grace Interiors, is one of these blogs: From sharing personal anecdotes about family life to recipes for "fruit pizza," Erika gives us a glimpse into her life and home. Of the many great posts on her blog, our favorite so far is this one of her den that she featured for My Little Happy Place (another great blog!). Stressing the importance of "real life, imperfect rooms," this "laundry room-home office-guest room-craft room" really does meet all of her family's needs--while still being stylish...and budget friendly! Take a look at a few more photos after the jump...

The entire room is painted a soft grey (Sherwin Williams "Hardware" SW6172) and the back wall has a grid of vintage matchbooks that she found in a scrapbook that she bought for $20 at a flea market. The sofa (love those stripes!!) was picked up at a local furniture shop on clearance ("Original tag said $3,600, I paid $400").

070809_urbangrace3.jpgAnother great find: $20 lucite coffee table, courtesy of Goodwill.

070809_urbangrace2.jpgAt the other end of this long room: An old dining table, ideal for crafting, along with a skirted desk that creates an L-shape with the dining table.

Love love love. The green and white stripes with the grey, the lovely warm table, and the floor length green and white (I think?) curtains at the other end of the room. So comfy!

I love the sofa end of the room w/ the grid of precisely framed and hung prints...

...but the center of the room sure is crowded - Why isn't the dining area farther back towards the other end of the room?

Erika is an Uh-MA-Zing designer, and though I've only "e-met" her, she is also a delightful and kind person. I think her home certainly reflects her keen sense of "elegant reality", and I was humbled when she agreed to participate in my post on having beautiful, but attainable interiors.

I just adore her work and I just love how real she is even if it just through a blog:)
