Maybe it was the great weather, or the all-too-short weekend, but we could definitely use some more time outdoors. Being in the garden and camping could fill that need, but we prefer to imagine ourselves at a more upscale destination, like this luxe resort in Thailand:
Nestled in the jungle we couldn't help but think of Indiana Jones when we saw pictures of the Four Seasons Golden Triangle Resort in Thailand. You eat, sleep and adventure in the outdoors where there are somehow all the amenities of a Four Seasons. It seems so much nicer than our desk, but thinking about all that humidity does make us grateful for the desert heat!
Have you gone to some exotic destinations or just camped in high style? What's your favorite way to enjoy the outdoors?
I have always wanted to venture to one of the Four Seasons locations in Thailand, Bali, etc. They are stunning hotels and consistently rank in the top 5 hotels in the world.

$2,000 a night!
Sigh. A girl can dream.

I really like camping in a shady place close to water, preferably without bugs. If car camping I make it pretty high style but if motorcycle camping it is pretty basic but I so much prefer either to just regular motels or hotels. Now a nice resort like the one above would be a different sort of holiday altogether. Sigh indeed but way out of my budget.

a less expensive, equally exotic, option is Vythiri, in Kerela, India. Check this out... http://www.palmlandtours.net/kerala/treehouse/treehouse.htm
It is pretty basic; but it does have running water in the bathroom!!

As others have said, you can have similarly luxrious resorts almost anywhere in Asia for a lot less than Four Seasons pricing. While I do believe they can (somewhat) justify their pricing in the form of extra personal touches and details (ratio of staff to guest, luxury spa products, sheets, etc.) many lesser resorts enjoy much the same locations along pristine beaches or rainforests.
