Casa Surf Project
10 Surf, Skate, & Coastal Themed Rooms

Growing up in Southern California, there's a good probability you'd grow up either surfing and/or skating. Living miles away from the beach, but in a suburban hood with plenty of flood control embankments and smooth sidewalks meant my younger Aquanet coiffed hair and baggy Vision Street Wear fashioned self was one of those !%#$ skaters. I've always retained a admiration for the lifestyle, especially the aesthetics. Thus, I quite like these skate, surf and Southern California coast-themed rooms...

110609casasurf02.jpgCasa Surf Project is a collaboration between Laguna Beach's La Casa del Camino Hotel, Riviera Magazine Design, and 10 different designers with the goal of creating a decorative homage to the philosophy life's a beach. Our favourite of the bunch, of course, is the signature Skate Room, designed by Eve Lowey of Studio Chameleon with former world champion skateboarder and owner of etnies Pierre Andre Senizergues. Details include the bathroom's Chicken’s bowl sink, a shoe scrap headboard, reversed shadow box wheel mirror, Senizergues’ Skate Study House Godfather Chair, skate free mini bar, “Graffiti Malibu” art piece and an original art creation by Mike Manzoori titled “It’s Not Where You’re Going, It’s How You Get There”.

110609casasurf01.jpgOther designers that participated in the project include Silver Lake local yokel, Barbara Bestor of Bestor Architecture (author of “Bohemian Modern, Living in Silverlake”), Rona Graf of Grace Blu Designs in Orange County, Karen A. Struck and Michael J. Russell of PD&A, Laguna Beach-based Christine Hallen-Berg, Angela O'Donnell of Artisance, Charm Logan of Orange County, San Diego’s Michael Soriano of Onairos Design, Debbie Nassetta, and Peter Blake & Anders Lasater.

Plenty more details and photos about the Casa Surf Project here.

How does a big Quiksilver or Billabong logo get in there? Do they sponsor the design in some way? I think that is a bit tacky. Yeah, I guess labels and logo stickers are a big part of modern surf street culture, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could get those clear wood grain blocks in the leftmost image of the bottom row.

Love them.

Cheers.

The Surf Companies became part of the project just like the designers. They are paid advertisers. The designers took the vision of the company that they were to represent and tried to portray the "vibe" that the company stands for.

As for those clear wooden blocks that are side tables, contact Michael Soriano from Onairos Design in San Diego. He was the designer of the Billabong Women's suite and he can tell you who the vendor was for those!

Can anyone tell me what shade of grey they used for the paint color in the 4th image in the second row? I really like that.

Widge: Regarding the "clear wood grain blocks", they are from www.holdithome.com. They were the major provider of furniture for the Billabong Women's Suite. They have a friendly and knowledable staff there and I'm sure that they will be happy to answer any further questions you may have! Good Luck, Michael Soriano (designer).

Also Bilabong has its own brand of bedding and what-nots, (the girly ones are actually VERY well designed and the quality's pretty decent, tho not for the price). This is DEFINITELY pretty awesome, if only other brands were as smart as to produce good looking stuff, unlike Diesel's new bedding collection (trash).
