Could You Live In Only One Colour?

100108-look01.jpgYesterday, Adrienne's post on cars that match homes reminded us of an article we read in New York Magazine many months back about people who only wore one colour. We've always admired that kind of disciplined aesthetic, probably because our own magpie eclecticism forbids it from ever becoming a reality...

What about you? Could you live in only one colour? Which one would it be?

Nope, couldn't do it. If I had to I suppose it might be a deep rust/red color but I as soon as I committed I'd want to wear every other color but.

Right now I'm mad for green, but knowing myself very well I predict that I will have another favorite color in a few years.

I have a friend who not only wears one color, gray, but EVERYTHING she owns is gray, the dog is gray, her husband has gray hair, the car is gray, her laptop is gray, she has gray contact lenses... the only time I've seen her in other colors are on saturdays, but she uses only black and white... oh and only red lipstick on her makeup, the rest, yes, gray...

For some reason, this makes me think of Rainbow Brite. Especially the picture on the right.

No! Seems kinda OCD to me...

Even with my favorite color (gray) I couldn't stand to deprive myself of other colors, or fixate so obsessively on only one color.

Purple. I own tons and tons of purple, and if I could afford to, I'd probably have an all-purple house. There are so many nice shades of purple, so it's not like it would be a monochromatic crayon-purple eyesore.

I guess if it could be black. I own a lot of black clothing.

No! I'm totally flakey about color.

Jezebella... we were talking on this other thread about how purple people tend to be obsessive about it, but I have yet to see one take a color fetish as far as Loreta's friend.

Nope, that's just insane!!!! The world is not monochromatic, why just stick with one color? I would just shoot myself.

I'd probably have to choose black as most of my clothes are black; my dining room chairs are black; my living room chairs are black; my oldest cat is black; my vehicle is black . . . If I wasn't such a slob, my color of choice would be white because of the reflective, bright airy quality.

i mostly only wear black clothing because it's easy and it looks good.. though i have a tendency to wear bright colored jewelry or shoes.
i think i could do all black clothing. and i'd like to have a black car. i do have a black dog. but decor wise no way. i'm still living in the room i designed in high school.. which is BRIGHT yellow & green striped walls with black furniture. my dream is to have an all white bedroom.. plus i just love color too much.
i'm rambling so i'll stop now.. those 9.5 hour days get to me...
