apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Darjeeling Limited: Visual Feast

Oh Wes. Talk about color! You know how to make pretty pictures don't you. For the sake of staying on topic, let's just talk color inspiration. Darjeeling Limited was full of all the bright colors you'd expect and that I plan to mine for as many vignettes in my apartment as possible.

All the extreme colors of India and all the fabrics and textiles we've come to expect out of Wes Anderson. (Don't even get me started on the Marc Jacobs designed Louis Vuitton Luggage.) The turquoise, the fuchsia, the warm warm yellow gold. Sigh. It was all just so beautiful and somehow never too much. And just like in real life, the film was balanced with a moment of white:

This cleansed my color pallete before diving back into loads of saturated colors. This is a good tool to remember for my apartment as a whole. I plan to be more mindful of how colors work off of each other as I'm moving from one room to the next. Especially if you're working on the Fall Cure and thinking abot color, ask yourself: Do your eyes need a rest? Is it time to warm up a room or does it need more cooling to balance the warmer room next to it?

Haven't seen the movie yet but I will this weekend. I LOVE Wes Anderson's movies and the set designs are always amazing. Even the Darjeeling Limited movie poster is gorgeous!

I always prefer the styling over the stories in his movies.
