Island Living. Maybe it's because the sky is normally so smogged over that we can't actually see Catalina, but it seems easy to forget that we have an island at our disposal just about an hour away.

Catalina Express offers service from 4 different ports in LA and the trip to Catalina is about an hour. Plus, the roundtrip fare will cost less than a road trip and you don't even have to drive.
Why not stay at the Hotel Catalina and catch up on some serious r&r or try the Avalon for some California history.
Then you can shop at CC Galagher's in Avalon or try something like Scuba Diving for a totally new persective.
