Exhibits as inspiration: Chuck Close

01_07chuckclose.jpg Even if you can't afford your favorite master-painter's work, often times lithographs, posters and books are available at their exhibits.

Chuck Close has an exhibit opening at the end of this month at the Orange County Museum of Art . If you're not familar with Close's work he has taken portrait painting to new heights over the past few decades. He often works in very large formats [room size paintings], has gone through stages of black and white,

as well as his notable topology work using series of abstract circles to paint his subjects. OCMA's exhibit is focused on his collaborative work spanning 1972-2002 the show opens Jan 28 and runs through April.

Chuck Close Prints: Process and Collaboration explores the art of printmaking and the artists continuing investigation into the principles of perception. This exhibition provides a comprehensive survey of the full extent of Closes long involvement with the varied forms and processes of printmaking, and is the first comprehensive exploration of what can only be termed a prodigious accomplishment in the field of graphic art.

We would like to point out exhibits happening around town over the next month that perhaps will inspire your own art work, decorating at home and at the very least you can feel very chic stepping out this winter to see art rather than staring at your television one more weekend in a row.
