Flickr Find: A Charming Cottage

Even though we just returned from vacation, images like these make us want to turn around and head back out of town. Celine of Bonjour! does an excellent job of capturing this charming cottage located in Prince Edward Island--and for now, we'll have to settle for the photos to take us there...

In the case of this cottage, less is definitely more with a single chair being the extent of extra furniture in the rooms. We can see ourselves getting lost in a book or staying curled up in bed, just waiting for a storm to roll in. We love that every room retains its original wallpaper, ranging from floral prints to youthful drawings. Each vignette is more precious than the next, with our favorite being a mix of white painted hardwood floors set against pink patterned vintage wallpaper. Celine adds that it's all in the details and makes sure to document it all, including a clock made from a can of lobsters.

i hate to be too hard on the photographer, but these look like a horror movie set up or something. the spare-ness, the unkempt-ness, and the association with the countryside makes me so spooked out!

i really dig the simplicity and sparsity of these rooms. they remind me of my grandma's 1700's colonial house in connecticut. very large house full of small rooms that were all very sparse and hadn't been changed in over 50 years as it was her mothers house.... it makes me long for the space to be able to spread out my favorite things (which is everything i have, lol) so that they are each an individual focal point. I really love simple antique chairs against a wall.

Love it. It's serene, has a bit of froufiness without being saccarine, and a touch of quirkiness. I like objects that are durable enough to age gracefully. A clear plastic chair is just not going to look that good after a hundred years of use.

Celine! So exciting to see you on AT. Love the quaintness of the cottage, both here and the first time I saw your photos. Totally reminds me of the East Coast and the wonderful simplicity they do so well there.

Just thought I'd mention that the blue and white wallpaper is covered with makers' marks from antique porcelain - I want it!
