apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Flickr Find: Teal Bed Nook

A majority of Apartment Therapy readers are big fans of the cozy look--especially in the bedroom. Teal wood paneling and a large bed for diving right in, you'd never know this comfy room belongs to...

a child. Sure, there are dead giveaways like the small block lettering hanging on the wall and the fireman's truck situated bedside. Nevertheless, this bedroom would translate for a grownup quite easily. The teal wood paneling which defines the sleeping zone looks great paired with the pine bed frame. A vintage quilt and a mid century modern side table and stool round out the look. The opposite wall remains light in color and utilizes map decor for a playful vibe. I love that bed. I don't think a child can fully appreciate its beauty...give it to me!

As beautiful as this is... (yes trust me, IT'S BEAUTIFUL!) it is stupid as a kids room. Kids rooms don't need to be so stylish as this... where are all the toys!? It's way too clean and grown up. I don't even think it's just the furniture, just the lack of chaos. Plus I got stuck in a twin bed until I was 18... no fair.

Why do little kids sleep in double beds now? It is just preparing them to demand a California king when they grow up.

thanks for all the great comments.

lafferteezy...please go and read my flickr commentary on the room. these pics were taken moments after we put it all together, and before my son had a chance to get his hands on it, and officially move in.

soon i plan to take a few more pics of the room now and feature them as diptychs with the original ones, so you can get a sense of how a six year old really decorates.

everyone deserves a stylish room, no matter their age.
