apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Highlight What You Don't Have In Your Home

021709_domino01.jpgWe certainly are among the "sad to see you go" Domino magazine readers and enjoyed the last issue. One of our favorite pieces highlighted the idea of "celebrating what you don't have". Since homes and apartments don't always come with what we want, make it that way by following these ideas...

Tip 1...Don't Sweat the Basics.
Consider spending your well-earned dollars on timeless accents for your home instead of bland flimsy pieces that may not make it after a year.

Tip 2...Make the Most of What You Got
Enjoy your space and take advantage of what you have. We love the painted black closet-turn-galley above with the addition of the mirrored panels. What once probably seemed cramped is now sexy and open - appearing to almost double the size of the space.

Tip 3...Elevate the Everyday
Just because you haven't found the perfect piece yet, doesn't mean you should treat your current furniture and decor as placeholders. Embrace your pieces and personalize the space by adding personal objects, pictures and arranging things they way you like them.

The apartment featured for the "20s" phase had such great vintage character with old dark wood floors & beautiful molding that you hardly need anything to make it look great. I adore old buildings/houses!
