Impressive and Colorful Glass Displays

On our first trip to Italy, we discovered Murano glass (and somehow managed to safely bring home a handful of lovely pieces). Ever since, we've always gravitated towards colorful glass displays...

We love how a large grouping of beautiful glass vases never looks cluttered because of its transparent quality. Light bounces off a colorful display easily, making the collection the focal point of any room. It's an easy way to add color to a space (without making a commitment). Not to mention glass can be found rather inexpensively at local thrift stores--which makes collecting it that much more delightful.

Pretty! The vibrant colors remind me of candy.

I keep this teal piece on my coffee table:

"... never looks cluttered." That's a bold assertion. Most of the photos at the head of this post look quite cluttered to me. I clutter is always in the eye of the beholder, but my feeling is, to paraphrase a clever wit, "It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to dust it!"

Actually, this all looks exactly like clutter to me. I like the rainbow picture though. I just wouldn't want it in my house.

I put colored glass vases/vessels from the thrift store on the empty space above my cabinets. I have enough extra storage for boxes and things in a closet, but I wanted to make the kitchen look less----ugly. It's a rental, so I can't change or paint, but the vases make it look less sterile, which is perfect!
