We remember being inspired by this bird cage vignette in Stefanie's House Tour and had wanted to find our own at the Mongkok Bird Market. Alas, we ran out of time and didn't bring one home. So we've been searching online all morning to find one. All our finds right here:
Check out this Hong Kong Birdcage from The Home Port. It's based on a Chinese Pagoda and in red or ivory looks classic and simple.
The Interior Gallery and
Northfork Pets also have some interesting Victorian and brass antique cages.

I love Stefanie's green bird cage. I also love that Banksy book which I proudly display, too.

Bird cages are so super cute, but reading the following post on Craigslist has prevented me from ever, ever having one:

Bird cages make me sad. Because indoor birds make me kind of sad. More importantly, the green knobby coat hook in that picture makes me happy. It would make me even happier in red. Anybody know where it came from?

One of my favorite now defunct little antique / lifestyles stores had a very memorable display inside of a bird cage that had its own stand.
I, too, would love to know where that green hook is from. Please? Anyone? I suspect it's vintage and if it's not, I want it! :)

I really don't understand the empty birdcage as decor trend. Can someone clarify why its so hip (for lack of better words)?

okay that craigslist post was bitter... but I laughed anyways.
I want a birdcage to put a fake bird in... I cannot explain why, sorry.
I also REALLY want a stuffed squirrel (as in taxidermy) but thatâs another story.

I like the french style birdcages as decorations, but I wouldn't ever put a real birdie in one.

I find the entire bird cage concept incredibly depressing.
