Often times, when a previous tenant has customized the space for themselves--what they leave (or don't leave behind) is seen as a decorating challenge. Take for instance, Bobbi's backyard deck. The former homeowners had a slide attached to the patio leaving a gap in the railing...
Bobbi decided to liven up the area by mixing two bright blue chairs while breathing new life into a black planter (which she painted yellow). In order to make the planter functional, her husband added the wooden slats as a place to set down a drink, book or a dish while sitting outdoors. Bobbi does a great job of mixing one of our own favorite color combo, blue and yellow while translating it for outdoor living.

Put the slide back!

Trust me it's much better without the slide. Two dogs (poop) slide drunk friends = big mess

That's a great use of some seriously affordable and inexpensive chairs...if I am seeing them correctly. The way they added a mini table top area to the planter is groovy, too. I just revamped my tiny "out the window" side yard and patio using orange and light turquoise as my accent colors. A little paint and color can go a long, long way.

Too much bold - why not tone it down just a bit? Maybe a darker blue and a deep orange?

Love it. Looks like a happy place for a margarita with a friend.
