On Saturday we attended our friend's wedding at the Hotel Figueroa in Downtown, Los Angeles. We had stopped by "The Fig" as locals call it, years ago for drinks and remembered it having quite the Casablanca backdrop. So when we attended our pals ceremony this past weekend we were thrilled that it was just as we remembered--enchanting. More inspirational views after the jump.
During the ceremony, we fell in love with the lights dangling on the enormous branch arrangement in the picture above. If you can believe it, we actually attended the event sans camera so we went in search of an image on the Hotel Figueroa's website.

We were inspired further by the rugs used as headboards pictured in the hotel's suites and decided it is definitely the easiest DIY we've seen. You can use just about any type of rug for this look and found plenty of ideas from previous Apartment Therapy posts.

My biggest inspiration has been the built-in wardrobes found aboard cruiseships - the way they take up minimal space but manage to organize tons of hanging and folded clothing, shoes, etc...
...So after returning from my first cruise I immediately ripped out the sliding doors and single rod and shelf on my closet and installed a wardrobe system with multiple shelves, drawers and cabinet doors that help me stay organized and maximize the space for storage.

I've been trying to figure out places to go for my birthday in Downtown LA, and I stumbled across this place a few days ago, however haven't seen any pictures. Thanks for the pics to help me decide!

Used to love to grab drinks at the Fig when I lived in Downtown LA. The bar inside is gorgeous - check out the lounge upstairs - and the back patio is wonderful in good weather.
