There's a definite art form to making a small space function and look effortless at the same time. Kim, from Happy Accidents, does a great job at both--marrying big ideas for small space living. More inspirational pics after the jump!

Not having enough room for a big desk in her teeny studio--she takes this vintage telephone stand and has it function as a desk. Although the desk is right next to the couch, they visually look separated into different zones. The bright, teal rug sections off the couch and artwork above as one zone. Then the two framed pieces of art beside the desk (with a more neutral palette make the desk area its own zone). We love how Kim positioned the two areas next to each other without either side competing for attention.
Making great use of a small kitchen, Kim uses a curtain instead of a door to save space. Overhead, she hangs pots and pans for easy access while giving the kitchen a bit of charm.
There's little room in the bathroom to store products and hand towels so Kim takes a glass shelf and positions it above the sink. We love using glass shelving in small spaces which keeps the flow of a space.
For a room that lacks storage space, under the bed is a great place for items to go. Kim uses a vintage crate for storing magazines--they're accessible (and we don't mind that the crate might peek out from below).

Does anyone know where the "c'est la vie" print is from?
view avajames's profile
ava james, I've seen it on Etsy quite a bit. Couldn't tell you the specific seller, though.

avajames--I got mine from dazeychic's shop on Etsy. I don't see any available right now.

I have that same print! It's dazeychic.

I agree a curtain to separate the kitch from bathroom is a no-go. It's just too close for comfort. Otherwise I love the arrangement in the living room. I'm wondering where does Kim sleep?

Thanks!!

Wow! I'd display my pots on a rack if they were always that shiney too!
Cute place - not into the bathroom curtain either tho.

this is an adorable place.
where's the shower curtain from?
while i like the idea of the kitchen/bathroom curtain, it would make me so uncomfortable as a guest using the bathroom.

I second the shower curtain Question. I have been looking for the perfect, affordable, turquoise curtain to freshen up my brown bathroom color scheme.

Btw, I love how the turquoise color scheme is brought into each room (shower curtain, rug, kitchen towels, etc.)

Hi everyone, thanks for the comments! As far as where I sleep...my bed is just opposite the couch. There are a ton more photos of my apartment here, including some more recent ones:

So, you can get an idea from those pictures where I sleep, and eat, etc...
As far as the curtain/bathroom door, it was a necessity and I actually really love it that way - otherwise the bathroom door literally takes up my entire kitchen - it's that small. When people come over to my place for the first time they're usually a little bit surprised, but then I usually get, "Wow, that's a good idea," and then they're over it. My friends are pretty easy-going that way. :)
I found that shower curtain at Target a while back, but I don't think it's still available...

First and formost cute, cozy home. Love your style. I do have a suggestion. Lower the arrangement of framed photos above the couch. Spread them out a little. Pull out the turquoise carpet and just have the couch front legs on the rug. It will make the space full bigger and not as cramped. IMO. ;)

I like the shelving/butcher's block in the kitchen! Are those Ikea Omar shelves? Did you that wooden block cut to measure yourself, or does Ikea have those available?

Here is a similar turquoise rug.
