Inspiration: Laure's Blue Lamp

atla-042308-bluelamp01.jpgSurfing through the archives of some of our House Tours, we noticed, while checking out our own Laure's tour of her old place, how many people had commented on her blue lamp. Well now a similar version of that lamp, which occupied a prominent spot in her old living room and now illuminates her landing strip, can find its mate in your own abode. Pier One's version of this lamp is now on sale for 59.98. See how Laure has used this versatile shape and colour, after the jump...

Found the same lamp as that very first photo....but more in a blue-green color for $4 at Skyview Flea Market (Santa Cruz).

I like Laurie's lamp better as the shade seems to work with the shape much better than the one choosen by Pier One, however, that can be achieved with a taller harp and a tall shade similar to Laurie's.

Thanks for the nod Abby, I got that lamp off of craigslist for $30. It wobbles a little on its base but I'm fine with that. The shade is off one of the lamps I inherited from my grandmother otherwise I wouldn't know where to find one that awesome!

This place makes great tall-drum lampshades like Laurie's for your eBay finds - I've used them and they're great:

If you're a fan of mid-century design, these guys make nice lampshades (I bought 2 from them about 3 years ago and love 'em). Their portfolio pages have some great ideas. Everything they make is fully custom but their prices aren't that much more than off-the-shelf shades.
