Inspiration: Lush Bella on Etsy
And At Her Home

110308lush-06.jpgWe found this picture of an artfully arranged pack of butterflies on Flickr. Always admiring the artistry of a beautifully arranged wall, we immediately wanted to know more about the image and the artist. Our discoveries after the jump...

110308lush-05.jpgThe artist behind Lush Bella is Kerry Pitt-Hart whose name is just as delicate as her creations. Kerry creates artfully arranged objects on paper and photographs them. The photographic images are printed on archival stock paper and accompanied by a hand-typed list (on a vintage Smith Corona) of the things that she used to compose each arrangement. Once we started poking around on Kerry's Flickr page, we discovered lovely images of her inspirational home.

110308lush-02.jpgTaking a golden velvet drape and hanging it at the bottom of the stairs creates a sense of glamour and charm to an otherwise empty space.

110308lush-03.jpgThe simplicity grouping of this trio is all about editing. A weathered bench accented with colorful, patterned yarn ties in the above pictures beautifully.

110308lush-04.jpgLace curtains instead of doors allow the room's decor to flow seamlessly from one space to the next. Again, the simple element of a bright color (the blue hand) gives the eyes a place to land.

110308lush-01.jpgBranches, fabric and pretty paper hung on a string are everyday items you probably already have in your home. The way Kerry arranges objects and her space transforms them from everyday objects into art.

Very pretty--

--however a group of butterflies is not called a "Pack"...
...but a "Kaleidoscope".

Too much white for my tastes, but I love the velvet drape.

Please tell me you meant grouping and not groping please!

But seriously, great discovery. It feels delicate and dreamy.

Nope. I don't like any of this, not my style. But I always learn something.

Actually, Aariel, it's quite colorful. But the colors are so muted that, yes, it feels overwhelmingly pale.

Other than its slightly anemic look, I really like this place. :)

My mom had a curtain at the bottom of her stairs, but that was to keep the ac/heat down stairs. We had a rather open floor plan with only one heating/cooling unit down stairs so she had to section it off somehow or the bills would go through the roof.
