Inspiration: Maison Martin Margiela Facade

atla-021508-inspireMM-01.jpgWe live in a rental, so we're always on the look-out for non-permanent wall treatments. We loved Bri and Chad's wall treatment, which used post-its to create texture. The other day, when we drove by the Maison Martin Margiela store, we discovered another option...

atla-0215008-inspireMM-03.jpgWe stopped the car to take a closer look at the facade's shimmering "sequins" and discovered the secret: simple white plastic paillettes, like these we found at M&J Trimming, nailed in orderly rows. We think even a small patch of them would be amazing in a sunny spot.

I love it. The building I live in has a similar "wind sculpture" by Ned Kahn in our courtyard. It's one of my favorite parts of the building. For more inspiration:

if you couldn't paint, why would you be able to put in dozens upon dozens of nails in the wall?

It looks neat, though.
