Inspiration: Not-So-Moody Blues

021809_popsblue1.jpgFollowing on the heels of Beth's inspirational roundup of pops of pink, we've compiled our favorite photos of rooms that use bright shades of blue with great effect. Cue up a Blues Brothers album, and take a look at some of these not-so-moody blues...

A predominantly cream and beige room is serious enough with navy pillows, but a bright blue child's armchair in the corner adds a nice twist to an otherwise conservative room.

A sophisticated Hollywood Regency corner is all muted glam with soft grey walls and an impressive white ceramic lamp with its black shade--but we're too busy drooling over that blue chair to notice. Sighhhh...

We love how the intensity of the blue of the chairs matches with the strong vertical visuals of these beautiful green drapes--we barely even noticed the white Saarinen table and the white and chrome chairs.

Instead of splurging on a show-stopping piece of furniture, go with simple and affordable accessories: this table cloth introduces a bold graphic pattern in just the right shade of blue to stand out just enough.

021809_popsblue6.jpgAnother easy way to introduce blue: A bright blue border on a crisp white pillowcase or pillow cover. Check out this DIY tutorial from Manage My Home that shows how to add ribbon trim to your own pillows.

These are many of my fav domino pics that i have in my inspiration journal (except for that last one with the funky gold lame square "pouf"). I adore turquoise and blues as accent colors..so relaxing. I love those blue chairs with the chinois pattern on the back!

I would love to have the top bedrooom! But I kinda married a minimalist. Maybe I'll print up the image of the bedroom, frame it and place it on the bedstand so I can see it when I wake up in the morning and before I go to bed. Lovely! Thanks!
